Gutedel is a variety that is seldomly planted in Germany. It reacts strongly to the soil and the winemaking by the producer. The Kalk und Löss Gutedel is grown on lime soil as the name already states and that gives the wine a fresh acidity. Once smelling the wine a note of pastry shows that the wine has spent some time on yeast. That gives it a wonderful structure. It is super fresh with aromas ranging from green pear to lemon. Crisp, fresh and intensive in taste! An amazing wine!
Drinking Situation
Gutedel is more common in Switzerland where it’s called Chasselas or Fendant.
